The Solar Eclipse in Virgo – A Black Moon

The solar eclipse today is the final eclipse of 2025, opening up opportunities for fresh starts, as the universe unfolds and expands before us whilst bringing in new themes relating to the autumnal equinox. The autumn equinox is the peak part of the astrological solar cycle, that begins with the astrological New Year at the spring equinox, so it will be no surprise to see our lives changing and shifting around this time with lots of emotional activities and things falling in line with the expression of our core identity, as signified by the Sun.

The chart of the solar eclipse is in Virgo, with Venus and South Node in the same sign, firstly promises that there are going to be some huge transformations over the next few weeks that will be personal for us all and of course, many that will spill over into society as proof of collective shifts. Positive changes are set to happen within our relationships effortlessly and with ease, as facilitated by the applying grand trine to Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini. We will be able to call upon our strength, mental resilience and ability to transform at a deep level in order to adapt to the changes taking place, the build-up to the majority and culmination of these coming forth at the time of the Full Moon in Aries on the 7th October.

With the kite configuration between the New Moon, Pluto, Uranus, Saturn and Neptune, reflections are being made on morality and boundaries, yet many difficulties are now in the past as lessons are being learned and instead, we move towards a place of deep understanding yet with passions for moving ahead and treading new ground.

Distance in romance is a thing of the past this coming lunar cycle with Venus separating from her square with Uranus and a focussed control on fairness in heated debates may take it’s place. Be sure to have a look at where the planets and configurations are landing and in which houses of your natal chart to see which life areas are being activated for you over the coming few weeks.

Much love and warm blessings, Gem.

Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes .. The New Moon in Capricorn today, 11th January 2024

The New Moon at 20° Capricorn this Thursday opens up the doors for us to many changes and shifts, but only if we are ready. Starting with an applying conjunction to Pluto (albeit a wide conjunction), the Moon will then pass Scorpio’s ruling planet in the early hours of Friday the 12th to begin a new Moon-Pluto cycle, opposing on the 25th of January, the same day as the Full Moon in Cancer. So, this lunar cycle is very much synchronizing with two of our water sign rulers cyclically and the two represent both change and deep emotions. The question is, are you ready to embrace the changes?

The New Moon also trines Uranus, another indicator of change, but with Uranus, the change can often be sudden and unexpected. We may not necessarily see the jarring change that can be indicated by the Uranus hard aspects, but with the trine we see today from the New Moon we might expect some real progressions in our relationships and perhaps even some exciting developments.

With this mixture of the potential uprooting of complex, deep emotions and new developments, there’s also a promised, added dose of a desire for expansion and exploration this lunar cycle with Mars trine Jupiter and we can expect to see these energies increasing in light or ‘cooking in the pot on the stove’ over the next two weeks, until the time of Full Moon in Leo on Thursday the 25th of January.

The Mars trine Jupiter aspect occurs in earth signs Capricorn and Taurus today, so a real desire for something extra, both material and practical could take hold. With Capricorn’s ruler Saturn in a sextile to both Mars and Jupiter, it might be a good idea to follow your impulses, ambitions, and desires as something well worth your while could come from it that could last you a lifetime.

Finally, with Chiron squaring the New Moon, albeit with a wide orb of more than 5°, there are chances of deep wounds coming to the surface, of course, to request healing if the opportunity is taken, and no doubt Pluto will be more than happy to assist with this process. This is most likely to happen between the 17th and the 21st of January, as the Moon passes Chiron before the first quarter Moon in Aries on the 18th (a stress point of the cycle), then Jupiter and Uranus and as the Sun moves into his exact conjunction with Pluto on the 20th and the 21st.

Of course then on the 21st Pluto will move into Aquarius, just in time to bring in some real fresh themes in time for the Full Moon on the 25th. There should be some real thematic shifts between the 21st and the 27th with this and the Sun moving into Aquarius, Venus moving into Capricorn, Black Moon Lilith moving into Virgo and then Uranus turning direct to officially mark the end of the retrograde season. What a bang, let’s hope it’s a good one.

I hope you all have a great lunar month!

The 11th February 2021 New Moon

Our next New Moon will be in Aquarius this Thursday, 11th February, at 19:05 here in the UK.

The New Moon on Thursday will be in Aquarius at 23°, marking the start of a fresh journey for all of us this month, with reference to similar energetic themes of a much larger journey that was kickstarted by the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction on the 21st December last year. Important Aquarius configurations and lunations send out ripples of energy, calling us to become more aware of our surroundings and each other. Aquarius is a conscious sign, ruled by the transpersonal planet Uranus, that can act as something of a truth serum both personally and in the collective conscious and this can really help as a glue within society, that binds us together with common goals towards global insight and positive change.

Joining the New Moon in Aquarius are the Mercury retrograde, Saturn in domicile and a partile conjunction between Venus and Jupiter at 12°. Venus and Jupiter so close together like this will bring a huge dose of positive enhancement to the whole effect of the sign of Aquarius, which I think is in some ways helping to mitigate some of the problems usually associated with the Mercury retrograde, especially as Mercury is so supported in the sign of Aquarius already.

The New Moon Total Solar Eclipse ~ 14th December 2020

There’s a New Moon Total Eclipse in Sagittarius tomorrow, 14th December, at 16:17 in the UK.

The New Moon tomorrow will be in Sagittarius at 23°, conjoining Mercury on the Moon’s South Node (also both in Sagittarius) whilst trining Mars in Aries. So there’s some fire energy here! Yes, even though Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius is still in Capricorn, flanked closely by both Saturn and Pluto, we do have some fire working-out within these trines of the New Moon. I feel that Jupiter’s position in late Capricorn in-between these two heavy planets is perfectly symbolic of the position we find ourselves in at the moment, as a nation (and globally). We are nearing the end of one of the heaviest, most transformational years we have had for a long time in which many of our freedoms have been thwarted, much like some of Jupiter’s free and fiery energy may be thwarted during the time he finds himself sandwiched amidst this configuration of planets. Jupiter here represents us and our personal freedom to explore the world and our surroundings and our sense of an ending to this adversity can be represented by Jupiter’s onward movement out of Capricorn and into an air sign; Jupiter will be strengthened via triplicity ruler in Aquarius here.

Therefore, as the ruler of our New Moon Total Solar Eclipse is in a somewhat frustrated position, looking forward to an end to all this, which will no doubt be marked by a series of perfectly-timed conjunctions with Saturn in Aquarius, we have a good dose of fire energy to feed our restlessness and creative endeavours as we lie in wait for the world to get back to ‘normal’. That fire energy is in the shape of a New Moon with a detriment Mercury.
